Audition Information
SJCCA Guitar and Orchestra Auditions:
Audition requirements for Guitar 2-4 are listed HERE. These audition materials are taken from the FMEA All-State Guitar grade 7-8 auditions for 2025-2026. For placement in Guitar 4 Honors, students will also be required to perform a second solo piece of their choice in addition to “Andantino”.
Audition requirements for the SJCCA Classical Guitar Ensemble are listed HERE.
These audition materials are taken from the FMEA All-State Guitar Grade 9-12 auditions for 2025-2026. All Ensemble students will be required to audition for All-State every year. Audition requirements will be updated each year to align with these requirements.

These materials are taken from the JYSO Encore Orchestra auditions. Scales should be performed at a medium to brisk tempo and excerpts should be performed at the tempo designated in the piece.

There are no specific audition requirements for the Americana Ensemble. Students should come prepared to perform a musical work of their choice on their primary instrument.
In addition, there will be a short interview to assess the student’s willingness to work as a team, learn new instruments and experiment with new musical styles. Fiddle players are the exception and will be required to perform the Orchestra audition for violin to demonstrate proficiency.
